Mike German with campaigners for more police

Local AM, Michael German, on Friday 28th March 2003 met members of New Inn Neighbourhood Watch at New Inn Police Station to discuss the withdrawal of their police officer.

Following the withdrawal of the Community Police Officer from New Inn local people are concerned that the Police Station will close.

The meeting was the chance for members of the local Neighbourhood Watch to discuss with Mr German their concerns about the closure of the station.

Chair of the Local Neighbourhood Watch, Fred Marshall said, "Mike has been with us all through this campaign. We shall be issuing a statement during our meeting with Mr German on Friday."

Mike German, who will stand in Torfaen in the Assembly election, said, "The local Neighbourhood Watch have been doing excellent work supporting our local police. I share their concerns about the consequences of withdrawing New Inn's Community Officer."
